Home Access Technician II

Location: Pittsburgh, PA

3 Birds Accessibility is a construction company specializing in accessible home modifications that help people live safely and independently in their own homes. We build ADA-compliant bathrooms, install stairlifts and ramps, and complete accessibility renovations for seniors, people with disabilities, agencies, and nonprofits.

We're looking for a Home Access Technician II (HAT II), a skilled field technician who can independently complete mid- to high-complexity installations and help mentor less-experienced team members. If you enjoy hands-on work, solving problems on site, and making a real difference in people's daily lives, this role is for you.

Responsibilities

  • Independently install stairlifts & vertical platform lifts (VPLs), walk-in tubs & tub cuts, grab bar systems & bathroom safety equipment, walk-in showers, and accessibility modifications
  • Perform bathroom and accessibility remodels, including light plumbing fixture replacement, shower conversion, and full ADA-compliant bathroom upgrades
  • Complete required training and certifications for the full range of services we offer.
  • Conduct on-site assessments and provide feedback to the operations team on installation plans and site conditions.
  • Help mentor and train Home Access Trainees, HAS I, and junior team members.
  • Maintain accurate records of job completions, site measurements, customer feedback, and notes
  • Identify and troubleshoot installation challenges to keep projects safe, on time, and on spec.

Qualifications

  • 2 or more years of hands-on experience in remodeling, construction, or accessibility work
  • High proficiency with power tools, measuring devices, and construction materials
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical installation manuals
  • Comfortable interacting with clients in their homes and adapting plans based on real-world conditions
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel within the service area
  • Must pass all 3 Birds Accessibility background checks upon a conditional job offer (criminal, MVR, and sex offender registry)
  • Compassion, patience, and professionalism when working with seniors and people with disabilities

Compensation

  • Full-time, W-2 Employment.
  • Pay: Begins at $28/hour, with a planned review at 90 days. Strong performance at that time can move you up to $30/hour.
  • Company vehicle for daily use
  • Growth path to Lead Installer and future franchise ownership
  • Supportive, family-like team culture
  • Meaningful work that truly impacts people's lives
  • Paid training, certifications & development
  • Full-time, stable schedule (no overnights)

Why You'll Love Working Here

  • Meaningful work that directly impacts quality of life

  • Clear growth path into senior roles (HAS III / Lead)
  • Training and certifications provided
  • A company that is growing and investing in people and systems
